Dave’s Custom Bikes is now building electric bikes. With the Santa Cruz County’s Electric Bike Rebate Program in place, electric bikes have become more popular than ever, especially for commuting.

By attending a free electric bike safety class offered by the Santa Cruz Area Transportation Management Association or Ecology Action, you can qualify for a $375 rebate towards a new electric bike, or a $175 rebate to convert an existing bike to electric. The electric bikes are built by installing either a 24 Volt or 36 Volt Go Hub Electric motor kit on a K-2 bicycle of your choice. A ‘motor kit’ can also be installed on most previously owned customers’ bicycles. One big advantage to using the front wheel driven electric motor kits is that the user can remove the front motor hub wheel, throw on the factory wheel and go out and ride the bicycle as usual, without all of the extra weight an electric bicycle usually adds.

Below are the prices for bikes, kits, and accessories. Prices on complete bikes offered through the Ecology Action program include a 1year warranty on parts and service and a rechargeable light kit. (Electric bikes purchased without going through the program are $160 less than the prices listed below)
